To Our SISD Families;
Earlier today, Governor Abbott announced his plans on the gradual re-opening of Texas. However, it was ordered that all Texas public school facilities remain closed for the remainder of this school year. Seminole ISD will continue to provide distance learning so that students may receive credits to allow for graduation and promotion. Please ensure that your children stay engaged and make the most of this educational requirement. Curb-side meal services to our students will continue as well. I firmly believe the continuity of education for our students is imperative. I applaud the efforts of our staff for how quickly they made the adjustment to distance learning. With your help, we are providing innovative learning opportunities for our students. Our schools are very fortunate to have resources in place to provide effective distance learning for our students.
We are looking at alternative ideas for graduation. Seminole High School Principal, Mr. Robert Chappell, has communicated with Senior Class Officers and staff to generate alternative plans. More information regarding special events will be communicated at a later date. Please know that we love our seniors and want to give them all the recognition and special memories they deserve. In addition, Dr. Charles Breithaupt, UIL Executive Director, has released the statement, “UIL is canceling all remaining 2019-2020 spring activities and state championships.” Our heart goes out to all of our students who represent SISD with excellence.
In an effort to serve our rural students better, we are offering Wi-Fi connectivity from buses that are equipped with transmitters. Beginning Monday, April 20th, families will have the option to pull up beside these buses to allow students to access online material during the day. There will be a meal pick-up option for students living in these areas. Interested parties in meal delivery to any of these sites, should contact SISD Food Service at 432.758.3662 ext. 1014. Seminole ISD has also installed additional internet access points at F.J. Young, Primary, Junior High and High School. This will provide an excellent signal and may serve as a dependable option for individuals who would like to access Wi-Fi from inside their vehicle from any one of these campus parking lots at any time.
Your continued prayers, support and patience during this time are greatly appreciated. We miss our students and look forward to the day we are able to return to our normal routines. This TR1BE is resilient, continues to pull together as one, and I am humbled to serve here at Seminole ISD. Please continue to take care of yourselves and your families. I want you all to know that we are here for you and will continue to be the Light for our students.
Sincerely,
Kyle Lynch
Superintendent of Schools
